He said that furnace oil prices had been increasing, which was passthrough cost as per policy. But since the government is picking the additional fuel cost for power generation by the KESC and power purchase cost from the independent power producers (IPPs) and the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) for the last one year, the consumer tariff had not been increased by KESC.
Similarly, the current additional cost of 22 paisa per unit as determined by National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) would not be passed on to electricity consumers, as the case is still with the Ministry of Water and Power, which has not notified it yet.
The KESC spokesman said the issue was being mentioned to inform the power consumers to keep the record straight.
